My name is Vilcu Oana-Alexandra and I`m born in Romania. Currently, I live in Germany. I studied journalism and painting became my very beloved hobby a couple years ago.
Since I loved it so much, I decided to share my creativity, at first, on Instagram. I must say, I am very shy when it comes sharing pictures of me or my name. Didn´t want to make such a big deal of it so Amavy Design was born.
Amavy or Amavi from Latin means I loved. A well-known Latin phrase is “veni, vidi, vici”, which translates as “I came, I saw, I conquered,” and was given in a message from Julius Caesar to the Roman Senate. On one of my trips in Rome I saw this nice shield: “veni, vidi, amavi”. This was something so simple but also beautiful, powerful, full of meaning and exactly the words which describe me the most. I am glad I am here; I am glad I can see the world as it is, and I love it 100%.”
Colours fascinated me as a kid (I think we all coloured home walls and furniture). The main reason I started to paint was the therapy one can receive through painting. At first, only for me, then for the trash. Then I developed my technique and loved how the structures were coming out from the painting. Many days of doubts, trying not to be a perfectionist, giving up 1000 times are part of the story and I think I am not the only one going trough all of this. But nothing compares to the feeling I have knowing my paintings are part of your homes. Every piece of art is made with love, appreciation, and best energy one can have.
Universe is my best inspiration source and I now understand why, as a child, I wanted to become an astronaut. Galaxies colours, star systems, planets are a wonder.
Amavy is my escape and something I do besides my everyday job.
